This just in:  On February 6, 2006 I received an email from "Bing McCoy", the name of the person recorded as the creator of the original failed ROM toy that the successful Marvel comic series was based on.   "Mr. McCoy" claimed that the rights to ROM were now his again, and that ROM would be "ressurected soon".   Unfortunately, being a person who appreciates both detail and accuracy, I cannot help but doubt the very little that was stated in the email and on the website that "Mr. McCoy" hosts since the information therein is NOT accurate.   I can say this with certainty because I personally have investigated legal issues surrounding the ROM character, and the information in his email and on his website do NOT jive with what I know (including my own email communications with Hasbro, aka Parker Brothers).   If ROM *is* ressurected, I am very fearful with what will happen to this beloved character since it would logically be a "recreation" of him (since it would no longer be under the Marvel logo).   I wait with minor anticipation and much intrepidation for what comes next...

And then:  On February 17, 2006 I note that "Mr. McCoy's" website now has corrected SOME information regarding the "facts" into something actually believable - that he is IN NEGOTIATIONS with Hasbro (not "Parker") and Marvel for the re-release of ROM.   Considering what was there before, this makes me feel a LITTLE better, but still reserved since as far as I'm concerned, very few people on this planet could do ROM the proper justice he (and it, the comic) deserves.   Some of this is probably my own envy that I am not involved, as I'd consider it an honor and privilidge to be involved in the return of one of the greatest characters and storylines ever in comics.   I remain.. hopeful.

As of June 13, 2006 there has been no new information, no updates available via either Mr. McCoy's website, nor at the non-functional site he sent me that would be active in a few weeks (back in February). Only time will tell.
